I'm absolutely delighted to be able to provide a positive update from Network Rail on step-free access at Flitwick station.
They have informed me that £12.6m has now been officially approved for the project for design and delivery.
They expect work to begin on the site in Autumn 2026, with new bridges and lifts planned to be in use before the end of 2027.
This is fantastic news after we had been told back in March that the initial cost estimate was higher than the budget available.
I know how much hard work has gone into campaigning for step-free access at Flitwick by so many incredible local campaigners over the years, so this is a win for them.
Thank you so much to every single person who signed my petition and showed your support for the campaign.
I will closely follow further developments to ensure the project goes ahead at the timescale Network Rail have now committed to.
