Additional trains will stop at Arlesey train station to help ease the travel disruption caused by the Bedford-Luton closure following Friday’s collision, Mid Bedfordshire MP Blake Stephenson has confirmed.
Blake spoke in the House of Commons on Monday (22nd June) to urge the Government to consider additional services to help increase the capacity over the recovery period.
And Government Ministers have now passed the Mid Bedfordshire MP a letter confirming that his suggestions have been taken forward as of the morning of Wednesday 24th June.
The arrangements include five additional morning peak services from Peterborough and five additional evening peak services from London King’s Cross, after early indications suggested a 30% increase in passengers using these services.
Blake Stephenson MP said: “I'm delighted the Government has listened and responded so proactively and quickly to my question, I would like to thank them for their continued support following the tragic incident on Friday.
“My thoughts remain with those impacted by the collision, particularly the family and friends of the driver who sadly lost his life, and those who remain in hospital.”
