GP Surgery announced for Wootton

Mid Bedfordshire MP Blake Stephenson has shared his delight at the news a new £17 million GP surgery has been confirmed for Wootton.

The surgery will relocate to a new facility built on Bedford Borough Council owned land near the roundabout opposite Rumble’s Chip Shop, a location chosen to avoid disruption to current services as rebuilding on the existing site would have required a full closure - something Mayor Tom and Cllr Wheeler were determined to avoid.

The new surgery will feature modern facilities and ample parking, with a seamless transfer planned once construction is complete. The project is now on the NHS priority list, and the Council will work closely with both the NHS and the Parish Council to ensure the development meets local needs.

Blake Stephenson MP said: “This is fantastic news for people living in and around Wootton, who will benefit from a much-needed new GP surgery.

“It shows just what can be achieved by our hard-working Conservative Councillors and Mayor Tom putting residents first and keeping the pressure on the local NHS.

“While this is positive news for Wootton, I know Wixams residents are still in desperate need of their own GP surgery, and we’re all continuing to make the case to Ministers, Central Bedfordshire Council and our local NHS to deliver one as soon as possible.”
