I am pleased to report that I have been appointed to the Environmental Audit Select Committee, where I will scrutinise how Government policies and programmes contribute to environmental protection and sustainable development.
The work programme has not yet been agreed, but I hope to use this appointment to consider some of the most pressing matters for us in Mid Bedfordshire and for rural communities right across the country. Watch this space …
During the last Parliament, the Committee published reports on a number of issues including 'Environmental change and food security', 'Enabling sustainable electrification of the economy' and 'Net zero and the UK aviation sector'.
