Mid Bedfordshire MP Blake Stephenson has backed a proposal to locate a new radiotherapy facility at Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
The Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Review proposes to relocate services currently provided at Mount Vernon in Northwood to a new site at Watford, and also to consider an additional radiotherapy unit elsewhere.
Conservative Member of Parliament Blake Stephenson has written to the review team in support of the proposal for an additional radiotherapy centre at Luton and Dunstable Hospital, to help make travelling for treatment easier for Mid Bedfordshire residents.
He said: "I warmly welcome these proposals which would help reduce journey times for people in Mid Bedfordshire needing radiotherapy treatment.
"We must do whatever we can to support people who are going through an incredibly difficult time and making journeys easier is an important step.
"I strongly urge the review team to go forward with this option and look forward to engaging with them going forward."
