Improving connectivity in Mid Bedfordshire...
To make our area an even better place to live, work and spend time, we need to ensure that Mid Bedfordshire has connectivity built for the 21st Century. I will continue to work to secure the rollout of gigabit broadband and better mobile signal in every corner of our rural area.
Our communities will need significant transport upgrades as we plan for future developments, including the Universal UK Resort. Having successfully supported the expansion of Luton Airport, I will continue to push for an upgrade to Junction 13 of the M1 and ensure that East-West Rail is delivered in a way that works for our local communities. With the planned Wixams Station now confirmed, I’ll work to ensure that is built as quickly as possible and that the stopping service is properly planned to ensure that it able to serve peak visit times for Universal UK.
It is important that people in our community have a reliable and accessible train service. I have been holding Thameslink to account to improve the capacity and reliability of the service provided to commuters using Harlington, Flitwick, Arlesey and Bedford. Following the decision to pause plans for Step Free Access at Flitwick Station, I successfully campaigned to get the funding restored. And after the construction of a new bridge at Harlington Station without step free access, I am campaigning for an upgrade to deliver accessibility improvements there too.
To take HGVs off of country roads around the north of Luton, I am continuing to campaign for the long-promised M1-A6 Link Road.
