Growing Mid Bedfordshire’s Economy...
Sitting at the centre of the Oxford-Cambridge Growth Corridor, we have an enormous opportunity to bring new high tech, highly skilled, highly paid jobs to Mid Bedfordshire.
Having secured the Universal UK Resort in Kempston Hardwick, I will keep working to ensure our local tourism, retail, hospitality and leisure industries can take advantage of the opportunities it presents. That means ending Bedfordshire’s status as one of the last places without a Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP) to set a local tourism strategy. A Bedfordshire LVEP would mean we can make the most of Universal UK.
I will also continue to campaign to deliver the Bedford to Milton Keynes Waterway Park, which will be a new tourism attraction in the Marston Vale.
Businesses in Mid Bedfordshire are hurting under the impact of the Government’s tax rises. I will continue to support our local pubs and high streets by opposing the Jobs Tax and campaigning to scrap business rates on retail, hospitality and leisure.
